(Hollywood, CA, Mon., Nov. 29, 2010)—One of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, Jimmy Stewart, and one of the cinema’s most treasured holiday films, “It’s A Wonderful Life,” got a fancy Hollywood send up on Monday, September 29 amidst snow and a children’s choir from nearby Selma Elementary School singing Christmas carols.

Actress Karolyn Grimes, 70, who played “Zuzu” Bailey, Jimmy Stewart’s baby daughter, in the iconic film, was on hand to unveil the Jimmy Stewart/George Bailey wax figure at world-famous Madame Tussauds Hollywood as part of a newly inaugurated homage to “It’s A Wonderful Life,” Hollywood’s only tribute to one of its most famous films.

Madame Tussauds also announced that with the donation of a toy for a needy Los Angeles area child, valued at $10 or more, children 12 and under, accompanying the donating party, will be admitted free now through Christmas Eve.

In 1990, The Library of Congress designated the film “culturally significant” and after its release in 1946 it was nominated for five Academy Awards.

Following numerous national television airings, beginning in the 1970s, the film took on a cult status that endures.

In recent years, NBC-TV has retained exclusive national broadcast rights and will air “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Dec. 11 and 24.

The $55 million Madame Tussauds Hollywood opened at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive, right next to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, on in the summer of 2009, in the first ever Madame Tussauds built from the ground up, an historic milestone for the 200 year-old brand founded in London.  In addition to life like figures of Bruce Willis, Elizabeth Taylor, Justin Timberlake and Penelope Cruz, among some 100+ featured figures, Madame Tussauds Hollywood takes visitors on an interactive Hollywood journey unlike any other area attraction.
